The retro housewife is responsible for all of the domestic chores that housewives had no choice but to do in previous generations. She cooks, cleans and crafts. She decorates the home, entertains guests and makes sure everything is organized.

The difference between her and an old-fashioned housewife is that she chooses this way of life and so revels in it. There are no chains holding her, here. She is a housewife because she loves to be one. Her home reflects this.

Of course, there are many different shapes and sizes of retro housewives. But a lot of them do take cheeky inspiration from the lives of their mothers, grandmothers and the women who came before them.
